The toddler room is a very large space that consists of multiple play areas. Toddlers participate in circle time, art, sensory activities, reading circles, and free choice time. We keep the shelves accessible and stocked with age appropriate toys so the children are able to choose what activity they would like to do during free choice time.
We love to let our toddlers explore! Their job is to be curious, get messy, and have fun. It is our job to make sure they do so in a safe environment. Our low Toddler Room ratio allows for children to safely grow in their environments. As well, we strive to help toddlers begin to understand how a classroom works. For example, we teach that there is a time for play, a time for rest, and a time for eating. We also work with children to play alongside their friends in a peaceful manner.
Toddlers are given a week to transition to the preschool. Most toddlers settle in well, but in the rare case of a rough transition, we are able to offer extra time. Like infants, transitioning toddlers increase their time in the Preschool room until they are able to have a successful full day. It is not required for toddlers to be potty trained before entering the Preschool.
